Dear Summer, Please Don't Go!

Submitted September 9, 2015 at 11:23 AM

Temperatures are starting to drop which means Fall is right around the corner. If summer has to end (sigh), why not come enjoy its last days at the Garden, with cooler weather and of course... the late bloomers!

Black-Eyed Susan   Rudbeckia fulgida var. sullivantii 'Goldsturm'

If you haven't seen them yet, it's not too late to come see the vast Black-Eyed Susan displays all over the Garden.

Cream Puff Cedar   Cedrus deodara 'Cream Puff'

While overlooking the Rose Garden, don't let these leaves trick you into thinking it's Fall already, this coloration is all year round!

Autumn Glow Toad Lily   Tricyrtis formosana 'Autumn Glow'

Along the Floral Walk be sure to look for this tiny speckled beauty, you won't be sorry.

Variegated Lily Turf   Liriope muscari 'Variegata'

Check out this unique bloomer on the Floral Walk, now with lilac flower spikes which will turn to blackish berries in the Fall.

Star Thistle   Centaurea bella

While enjoying a shady walk through the Fern Gully, keep your eyes on the ground for these blooms that resemble a shaggy hairdo!
