Fall in Love with Our Grasses

Submitted September 25, 2014 at 4:23 PM

It appears as though Fall is upon us. The leaves have started to change, our gardens are ready to harvest and there is a touch of cool in the air. As the season progresses, our grasses really begin to show off.

Dwarf Zebra Maiden Grass  Miscanthus sinensis var. sullivantii   'Hinjo'

This yellow-banded grass is suitable for containers and small gardens.

Fountain Grass   Pennisetum alopecuroides

Autumn brings bristly arching flower spikes.

Los Lunas Form Giant Sacaton  Sporobolus wrightii 'Windbreaker'

This grass giant dwarfs most other grasses at a whopping ten feet tall!

Golden Variegated Hakone   Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'

Almost entirely yellow leaves brighten up any shady spot in the garden.

Northwind Switchgrass    Panicum virgatum  'Northwind'

This ornamental grass keeps its narrow growth habit all through the season.

Yellow-groove Bamboo  Phyllostachys aureosulcata

Native to northeast China, this hardy bamboo makes a great privacy hedge.

DON'T FORGET!!

Friday September 26 and Saturday September 27 is our Annual Fall Plant Sale.

Stop by and pick out some great native and water-wise plants for your garden.
