May Flowers

Submitted May 14, 2013 at 3:52 PM

Can you believe it? It is already mid May and before you know it, the year will be half way through. If you haven't visited the Garden yet, there is no better time than now. Besides lilacs, there are viburnums, crab apples and many perennials that are blooming their little hearts out.

Japanese Cobra Lily    Arisaema sikokianum

You can find this unique perennial at the entrance to the Herb Garden.

Pearlbush   Exochorda x macrantha  'The Bride'

Those who visit the garden often know right were these stunning shrubs grow. For those who don't, take a walk down the Floral Walk and you'll see them growing on the bend right after the pear arbors.

Firestorm Avens   Geum  'Fire Storm'

As far as Geum goes, this one is incredible. In its second season next to the oak sculpture, it is more brilliant than ever.

Koreanspice Viburnum    Viburnum carlesii

The Viburnums are opening everywhere. Let your nose guide you to their sweet fragrance.

Japanese Wisteria     Wisteria floribunda   'Macrobotrys'

For those of you who wait anxiously all winter and spring to see the Wisteria at Red Butte Garden, your wait is over!

Be sure to also pay a visit to the Fragrance Garden and see our many varieties of Daphne bushes as they put on their fragrant show of blossoms.
