Often overlooked and underused, our Wildflower Meadow has a lot to offer. With a meandering path now mowed through the center, you can get up close and personal with some neatly labeled water-wise grasses and perennials.

A sign welcomes you to enter the meadow to begin your experience.

Common Milkweed   Asclepias speciosa 

Milkweeds are the host plant for the caterpillars of the Monarch Butterfly; a species on the decline. Plant some in your garden to help sustain their numbers.

As the path wanders, take your time to notice the diversity.

Mexican Hat   Ratibida columnifera 

This striking native perennial has petals that vary in color from light yellow to deep red.

Sideoats Grama Grass    Bouteloua curtipendula 

The pendulous florets of this Utah native brings a unique look to any flower bed or meadow.

The grasses in the meadow range in height from a couple inches to a few feet.

Showy Goldeneye    Heliomeris multiflora 

Whether it's grown in sun or shade, this native will attract a variety of native bees to your garden.

After you finish enjoying the meadow, why not continue your walk into the Natural Area on one of the many trails or head down to the wayside and have a secluded picnic by Red Butte Creek.
