A Palette of Colors

Submitted April 17, 2014 at 3:39 PM

As spring rolls on, one color starts to fade and another one quickly takes its place. Our early, and mid season daffodils are slowly descending from their peak bloom and the late season daffodils are in full swing. Be sure not to miss the miniature varieties on the upper Floral Walk and the new additions around the Rose House.

Bittern Daffodil   Narcissus'Bittern'

Look for this little guy at the bottom of the Floral Walk

Flowering Quince    Chaenomeles speciosa 'Toyo Nishiki'

While you're near the Rose Garden don't miss this guy in the Ring Garden.

Princess Kay Flowering Plum   Prunus nigra 'Princess Kay'

This double flower plum can be found in the Rose Garden.

Red Spire Flowering Pear    Pyrus calleryana  'Red Spire'

Formerly in the old Amphitheatre, this tree can be found growing in the lawn near the Shoreline Trail.

Deseret Milkvetch   Astragalus desereticus

Our Conservation Department is having success with this native milkvetch.

Remember, as the weather warms, animals awaken. Make sure to watch where you step in our Natural Area, rattlesnake season is just around the corner.
