Signs of Spring

Submitted March 18, 2016 at 1:44 PM

We are just a few days away from the first day of spring and the Garden is definitely showing signs of the change. Now is a good time to see Red Butte Garden wake up from its winter slumber.

Siberian Squill   Scilla siberica

In the Courtyard, this flower may be small but you can't miss it. It's vibrant blue color is sure to catch your eye.

Winter Aconite    Eranthis hyemalis

Come see the beautiful yellow carpet this flower has created in the Medicinal Garden.

Pasque Flower    Pulsatilla vulgaris

This very hairy plant in the Medicinal Garden is sure to catch your attention and keep it for several minutes.

Cherry Blossom Lenten Rose    Helleborus 'Cherry Blossom'

Along the floral walk, this is one of the many Lenten Roses in bloom.

Ballerina Tulip    Tulipa 'Ballerina'

In Fern Gully, along the Floral Walk, this cute little tulip is one of the few remaining in the Garden thanks to squirrels eating their bulbs.

Golden Peony    Paeonia mlokosewitschii

Here is something unique you don't see everyday! These are new leaves emerging from underground tubers.

The Garden is transforming very quickly, with new species blooming daily! It is a great time of year to experience the Garden coming to life.
