Staying Hydrated

With temperatures in the triple digits, it is important to make sure you drink enough water. Just like people, plants also need to stay hydrated.

Mosaic Flower

Mosaic Flower    Ludwigia sedioides

One way plants stay hydrated is by growing directly in the water.

Water Fern

Water Fern    Marsilea mutica

Although it looks like a four leaf clover, this water plant is actually a fern.

Water Lily

Yellow Water Lily    Nymphaea odorata 'Sulphurea'

Another water loving plant, this water lily produces delicate yellow flowers.

Buttercup

White Water Crowfoot    Ranunculus aquatilis

Look for this Utah Native in the Upper Pond with the Mother Moose sculpture.

Sedum

Kamchatka Stonecrop    Sedum kamtschaticum

Succulent plants, like this Stonecrop, stay hydrated by storing water in their tissues.

Succulents

These beautifully designed succulent pots can be found at the entrance to the Water Conservation Garden.

Although it's hot outside, there are plenty of escapes from the heat at the Garden. Bring your water bottle and come enjoy a walk through Red Butte.
