Surprise! Winter is Back!

Submitted February 27, 2015 at 5:24 PM

Just as temperatures started feeling as if we could plant our vegetable gardens, a storm swept through the valley and blanketed our blossoms with a couple inches of snow.

Clouds keep our scenic backdrop hidden shortly after the snow stopped falling.

Cornelian Cherry   Cornus mas

This early blooming shrub produces clusters of small yellow flowers that last from one to three weeks.

Rijnveld's Early Sensation Daffodil   Narcissus 'Rijnveld's Early Sensation'

Not even snow can stop this daffodil from doing its thing.

Dwarf Iris    Iris reticulata

The backdrop of snow really makes the color of this Iris really grab your attention.

Bloodgood Japanese Maple  Acer palmatum   'Bloodgood'

Tiny water drops lined the branches of this Maple like glass beads on a necklace.

Winter is a great time to visit the garden, especially after a snow storm. Snow is in the forecast for this weekend so why not plan a visit and don't forget your camera!
