Education

Red Butte Garden provides the community with an outstanding resource for environmental education through lectures, classes, workshops, school field trips, kids classes, camps, festivals, tours, and outreach events. If you like people, enjoy plants and nature, and can communicate well, you may enjoy being an education volunteer. All education volunteer positions require training.

Volunteers lead weekly two-hour field classes through the Garden for a unique and exciting learning experience that highlights topics found in the science core curriculum of their grade level. Volunteers must be age 20 years or older. School Program volunteers need to be able to comfortably walk/hike the Garden and work in a variety of weather conditions.
Available: March to June and August to October, Monday – Thursday mornings and early afternoons. Commitment of two shifts per week is preferred, with one being acceptable.
Training: Training is required and provided each March and August.
