Winter Blues

Everyone gets the blues sometimes, even plants. Winter is a great time to visit the Garden and appreciate some of our plants that have the blues.
Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar Cedrus atlantica 'Pendula'
Although this conifer is blue all year long, it looks especially blue in the winter.
Bluestem Joint Fir Ephedra equisetina
This unique, conifer relative can be found in the Water Conservation Garden.
Colorado Blue Spruce Picea pungens
Formerly the Utah State Tree, this stately conifer can be found in multiple locations in the Garden.
Garden Sage Salvia officinalis
This edible perennial adds winter interest to any herb garden.
Winter is a fantastic time to come up to the Garden and view the wildlife that make the Garden their home. Why not take a trip up here after the next snow storm and see what mammals and birds you can spot.
Just a reminder that our winter hours during the month of December are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and admission is half-price. The Garden will be closed from December 24th until January 1st to allow staff to be with their families.
