If you are anything like us here at Red Butte Garden, you are probably counting down the days until spring. The Garden is starting to show some color, come get a sneak peek of what spring holds in store!

Anemone

Windflower    Anemone blanda

This is the first of many more flowers to come!

Scenic View

View from the Natural Area

Check out that clear sky! Now that the inversion is gone, get up to Red Butte for a hike in the Natural Area, the views are stunning.

Echinocereus

Mojave Claretcup    Echinocereus mojavensis

Speaking of stunning views, this native cactus may have the best view of all the cacti in the land.

Calvatia

Giant Puffball    Calvatia gigantea

This may look like a pile of dirt, however, it is a pile of mushroom spores about the size of a basketball! This is all that is left once the puffball mushroom's flesh has deteriorated.

Cymopterus

Longstalk Springparsley    Cymopterus longipes

This small early bloomer is a Utah native and can be found in the Natural Area.

Cyclamen

Alpine Violet    Cyclamen coum

This darling little plant can be seen throughout the Garden.

We have many varieties of hellebores blooming right now! Below are a couple of them. They can be easy to miss with their drooping flowers, so be sure to keep your eye on the ground. They can be seen along the Floral Walk and Children's Garden.

Helleborus

Lenten Rose    Helleborus hybridus

Helleborus

Stinking Hellebore    Helleborus foetidus

It's time to get ready for Spring! Come stretch your legs and and see the beginnings of the Garden coming to life!
